Private Soviet Riga tour

1.Private Soviet Riga tour

★★★★★★★★★★5.0 · 8 reviews · 2 hours (approx.) Our pick

Join Edvards on a private, English-language walking tour of Soviet Riga. Over about two hours, you’ll connect monuments, deportations, religious life, architecture, the KGB, and Latvia’s return to independence. The tour ends near Dailes Theatre, a short walk from Old Town.

“Edvards is so extremely passionate about this topic! His knowledge is immense, yet he conveys it in a way that is easy to understand and follow along. I really enjoyed this tour and it’s the perfect way to actually understand the history of the city you’re visiting, rather than just check out some coffee shops and move on to the next city. Thank you Edvards!”

2.Private Day Tour to Sigulda, Turaida Castle and Soviet Bunker

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 8 reviews · 8 hours (approx.) · from $174

Leave Riga at 9:00 for a private eight-hour trip with a guide such as Pauls. Hike through Gauja National Park, visit Turaida Castle, then enter a preserved Soviet bunker. Hotel pickup, transport, parking, and water are included, but admission fees, lunch, and a 40 EUR fuel surcharge are extra.

“Everything in this trip is wonderful. We had discovered the caves and the bunker. The tour to the bunker is also a must. It is so excited that the guide in the bunker shows the stories in the soviet times. It helps me know more about the country and the life they had had. I hope to go to Sigulda again.”

Full-Day Private Trip to Nuclear Missile Base and Secret Soviet Bunker

3.Full-Day Private Trip to Nuclear Missile Base and Secret Soviet Bunker

★★★★★★★★★★4.5 · 7 reviews · 8 to 10 hours (approx.)

Travel from Riga with English-speaking driver Martins to an abandoned nuclear missile base, a preserved underground Soviet command bunker, and the More Battle Museum. Expect long drives, private transport, local history, and direct access to places most standard city tours do not reach.

“This is an excellent day out which is fascinating - particularly so if you are interested in military or cold war history - and allows you to access two previously secret Soviet Latvian facilities. We were picked up from our hotel which was very convenient given it was an 8am (due to the distances travelled over the course of the day). Our driver and guide, Martins, was brilliant. He was very informative, very friendly, very accommodating and, of course, a very good driver. Martins also acted as our guide around the former missile base and was very patient with our constant questions and photo stops! He is a great ambassador…”

“Outstanding day! Second trip with Viesturs as the guide. Day started at the nuclear bunker and then a hike through the forest after a quick shot of black balsam, to the old Soviet storage facilities hidden there.”
